Comments: We started our dive at Wailea Point at 7:32 a.m.  We could see mantas from the surface and were very excited to dive.  The visibility was reduced due to the amount of small creatures in the water on which the mantas were feeding.  It was difficult to photograph them because they were feeding near the surface and we tried to stay on the bottom so as not to bother them.  Upon ascending for my safety stop at around 8:45 a.m. I was able to photograph this small female.  I estimate she was between 5 and 6 feet across.  She is named after my son.  I offer my deep appreciation to Pauline Fiene and everyone at Mike Severn’s Diving for this dive and for years of safe and beautiful diving.  Upon exiting the water our captain, Andy Schwanke, said he saw 6 mantas from the surface.  Would that we had been able to photograph and identify more of them.
